Grandin Village
The closest thing Roanoke has to a true walkable village. The Grandin Theatre, the co-op, the farmers market, coffee you’ll actually walk to on a Saturday. Housing is mostly 1920s–1940s bungalows and four-squares with real woodwork, original floors, and the maintenance bill that comes with both.
Best for: people who would trade square footage for a sidewalk
and a front porch.
Watch out for: knob-and-tube, old sewer laterals, and
bidding wars on anything under $PRICE that’s already updated.
